At Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 3 in Qom, three digital platforms have replaced traditional paper-based methods. Together they unify and streamline the recording of staff tasks, the logging of equipment failures, and the control of the treatment process.

Recording Process Staff Performance

Previously, staff gave shift supervisors a verbal or written report of their tasks at the end of each shift. The “Process Staff Task Dashboard” brings all tasks for the “Inlet” and “GBT” operators into a single, centralized environment. Shift supervisors can log any activity at any time, and the system automatically reminds them when it is due to be repeated. Reports can be generated for periods from daily to annual and broken down by individual. The result is greater accuracy, better time discipline, more transparency, and stronger support for management decisions.

Failure Event Management and Monitoring System

Equipment failure reports used to be sent on paper forms to the Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Emergency Maintenance (EM) units. This was slow and made follow-up and analysis difficult. Now the control room shift supervisor records the equipment name, the failed component, the cause, and the date and time of the failure in a web-based system, and the PM and EM units can access it simultaneously. The system also transfers knowledge between shift supervisors, who rotate every five days. Analytical reports highlight equipment with recurring failures and make preventive maintenance planning possible.

Intelligent Process Control and Optimization Platform

The Qom treatment plant operates on the return activated sludge process. This is a living system, and parameters such as inlet flow, settling rate, return sludge concentration and rate, and aeration level must be kept within precise ranges. In addition to displaying quantitative and qualitative data, the dashboard uses intelligent fault-detection algorithms to explain the cause of any deviation and to suggest practical solutions. Its recommendations focus on equipment commonly used in Iran. Its benefits include faster problem detection and resolution, higher treatment efficiency, lower costs, proactive alerts, automatic daily reports, and automatic operator training.
